Our Testing Scope

Fire Resistance Testing

We conduct fire resistance testing on a wide range of construction products, including doorsets, walls & partitions, glazing systems, and penetration seals.

Indicative Testing

Helping our clients optimise their product designs and meet regulatory requirements more efficiently.

Reaction to Fire

SBI and SFI Testing – and Classification to – EN13501-1:2018.

Fire Resistance Testing

Vertical Furnace

Our 3m x 3m full-size furnace allows us to conduct fire resistance testing on a wide range of construction products, including doorsets, walls, partitions, glazing systems, and penetration seals.

The furnace is configured to test to European norms, ensuring full compliance to your testing requirements.

Indicative Testing

Cube Furnace

In addition to our full-size furnace, we offer testing on a 1.5m cube furnace. This allows for preliminary assessments of fire performance, helping our clients optimise their product designs and meet regulatory requirements more efficiently.

The furnace can test in both the horizontal and vertical planes and is currently configured for EN testing.

Reaction to Fire

SBI and SFI Testing - and Small Flame
Classifications to EN13501-1:2018

SBI Testing: Single Burning Item (EN 13823:2020 +A1:2022) testing is key for understanding how materials respond when exposed to fire, vital for ensuring the safety of various products and structures.

The SBI test is used in conjunction with the small flame test to determine classifications B, C and D in accordance with EN13501-1:2018. At The DUL , we conduct SBI tests, providing clear insights into material performance under fire conditions, helping you make informed decisions for safety and reliability.

SFI Testing comprises Small Flame Impingement (SFI) (BS EN ISO 11925-2:2020) testing service, designed to assess how materials withstand exposure to small flames. In conjunction with the SBI test, the small flame test is used for B,C & D classifications in accordance with EN 13501-1:2018. We also test for Classifications E & F.

Doorsets

Our laboratory offers meticulous examination protocols to assess the fire resistance of doorsets and hardware, encompassing hinged, pivoted, sliding, and folding doors, as well as locks, hatches, and self-closing devices.

TEST STANDARDS
BS EN 1634-1:2014 + A1: 2018
BS 476-22: 1987

Glazing Systems

We can assess the fire resistance of glazing systems, whether insulated or uninsulated. Our team of technicians adhere strictly to the testing standards to assess whether your fire-resistant glazing satisfies the integrity and insulation criteria required.

TEST STANDARDS
BS EN 1364-1: 2015

Walls and Partitions

Explore our laboratory’s comprehensive testing procedures for evaluating the fire resistance of non-loadbearing walls and partitions. Our methodologies and equipment rigorously assess materials and constructions to ensure compliance with fire safety standards.

TEST STANDARDS
BS EN 1364-1: 2015

Penetration Seals

Our team can test the effectiveness of penetration seals in maintaining the fire resistance of separating elements where services pass through. Adhering rigorously to industry testing standards, we assess the integrity and performance of these seals, ensuring they meet the criteria necessary for your project.
